Education as a driver of change – towards a wellbeing economy

Education can be used as a vehicle of social reproduction, teaching children and young people about the dominant logics of society, but it can also be “the practice of freedom” in which we learn how to deal critically with status quo and to participate in the transformation of our world. We discuss the overall purpose of education and how education, from the early years of our lives, shapes our understanding of value and success. We look at education both as a driver of change, but also as a subject of change: how can topics such as economic security, inequality, economic growth – and critique of growth be understood and taught not only to students of economics, but also to children in primary education? ​
